HOTEL REVIEW : GINGER MADGAON

My love for the Ginger group of hotels is since 2016, In 2016, I took my first solo trip to Goa and chose Ginger Panjim for my stay. The location was great, the staff was generous and my first solo trip turned out to be a hit. Of course, I was scared and insecure, however, Ginger came to my rescue, and the staff always made sure I was comfortable. The restaurant served scrumptious meals, also the restaurant staff was humble and sweet. Though I don’t have many pictures from that trip, my heart is full of memories.

So, this time when I decided to visit the Shanta Durga temple and Mangueshi temple in Ponda, Goa. I started looking for hotel options near Madgaon, and to my surprise, I found out Ginger hotel is also located in Madgaon. As far as I know, they have three branches in goa, one in Panjim, another one near Dona Paula, and the third one in Madgaon. I was impressed and really happy to find Ginger in madgaon. Madgaon is the cultural capital of goa.

Madgaon Ginger is opposite the station, it’s within walking distance. let’s go ahead and see the rating thebrownwildflower has given Ginger, Madgaon.

FIRST IMPRESSION OF GINGER, MADGAON:

It has the signature interior of the Ginger group of hotels, classic, vibrant and lively. I personally love it. Ginger is a no-fuss hotel, great for business trips, solo trips, and family vacations too. After entering the hotel to the right is the reception area. where I met Devika Singh, who is the guest help associate at ginger. A hotel that has a humble staff is always commendable, and hence I love ginger. Their staff is well trained and humble. Devika helped me with the check-in formalities and gave me the keys to my room, right near the reception area are two lifts, I love this thing about ginger, easy for self-check-in, as we can carry our own luggage in the lift. I loved my welcome and smooth check-in upon arrival.
Hence, I would rate my first impression 4.5/5

LOCATION AND ACCESSIBILITY:

Ginger Madgaon is easily accessible, it is 5 minutes walking distance from Madgaon railway station. Don’t worry you won’t hear the loud noises of trains at night or during the day, they have city view rooms, and station view rooms, you can book one according to your choice and convenience. People usually spend a lot of money on traveling in Goa, especially from the station to their hotel’s location. I liked this hotel, especially for its location. For the first time, I didn’t have to spend a single penny to reach my hotel’s location in goa.

MY RATING FOR LOCATION AND EASY ACCESSIBILITY 4.5/5

ROOMS AND VIEW:

As I mentioned earlier, the interior is signature Ginger style. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, well lit, with roller blind curtains. The washroom is Clean and well-maintained. Ginger provides basic amenities inside the room, like Led television, an electric kettle, coffee and tea sachets, and sugar. The wardrobe is nice and compact. The room has a working phone, which makes It easy to call the reception and restaurant. Talking about the view, the view is simple, city view, I won’t say it has the best view, however, it isn’t the worst either. I’m okay with no extraordinary view hotels when I am in the mood to explore throughout the day. it doesn’t mean I didn’t like to stay back at the hotel. I loved the cute table and chair provided inside the room, made working indoors easier.

MY RATING FOR ROOM AND VIEW IS 4/5.

RESTAURANT AND FOOD:

Ginger madgaon has a restaurant named Coastal Tawa on the ground floor. The food is scrumptious. The staff is welcoming, the interior is simple yet attractive. I wish the seats could be a bit more comfortable. The staff was happy to help with the menu. I tried their special fish thali, which was difficult for me to finish alone, it’s huge, and it’s tasty. Coastal Tawa’s breakfast spread is good, they provide quality as well as variety. I like my bowl of fruits, so I ordered it every day, the portion was quite good and the fruits were fresh. I tried their paratha’s, Prawns, veg thali and liked their food quite a lot. It didn’t cause any trouble like outside food usually does.

I take my medicine before my meals, and the only thing I disliked was when their waiter came and questioned me about what medicine was I consuming, he even took my strip and checked it. It must have been fine on the hotel’s part however I felt my privacy was violated. I didn’t like this particular incident which happened on the last day. I’m a chronically ill person and being treated in this manner was highly unprofessional. I felt it was not at all necessary.

I will rate the restaurant; however, my last day’s experience was extremely traumatizing.

RESTAURANT RATING 4/5.

EXTRA FACILITIES:

They have a 24hr functioning gym, and a cute library/reading area. Though I didn’t get time to hit the gym it looked well equipped and clean. I went through the reading area and loved the minimal aesthetic. I went through a book called Goa Rare portraits by Pantaleao Fernandes and loved his work. I will upload a video on Instagram do check it out. Extra points for having a reading space. I totally loved it.

MY RATING FOR EXTRA FACILITIES IS 4.5/5
